Reminiscing on my travels to Ancient Roman sites in Italy and Provence, this swatch collection reflects symbols of the power of a long lasting civilization. These symbols include architectural details, metalwork, and the lion. In pencil, I illustrated Ancient Roman jewelry, coffered ceilings, running patterns found on columns and entryways, and, as the focal point, the prancing lion and lion’s head. These motifs were then translated into intricate patterns and placement designs which were then screen printed on leather, felt, and cotton and are meant to add a sense of empowerment on accessories.
