hello!
I’m Megan and I’m a surface pattern designer and artist from Maywood, NJ. Growing up my parents would take me on nature and educational focused trips to national parks and zoos, leading to a huge respect and appreciation for the animal world. In high school and college I gained an interest in art history, going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City any chance I’d get to browse and sketch ancient art and sculpture.
I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fibers in 2020. My senior work focused on animal symbolism from my personal life. I related specific animals to positive childhood memories as well as ideas of animals and aesthetics from Ancient Roman civilization. My fascination with the later stemmed from visits to Roman ruins in Italy (2015 trip) and the south of France (2019 study abroad experience).
These aesthetics as well as a constant stream of exposure to the fashion and interior design markets through social media has led me to think more thoroughly about pattern and its aesthetic form and purpose.
I am driven in my personal time to explore shape, texture, and color through pattern. Having not actually produced any of my current personal work, I paint patterns on paper to explore how they interact with each other and the possibilities of their uses in interior/home product.
I currently work as an Associate Textile Designer for F. Schumacher in New York.
